Angela DeMontigny’s Designs and fashions are worn by many top Native and non Native stars around the world.  Ayi Jihu will be in Canada collaborating with and promoting the Brand New Angela DeMontigny (Ayi Jihu) inspired Young Native Fashion Collection, which will be seen for the first time at special events in May and June and which has been causing quite a fuss around the world in Fashion circles, leading to Angela DeMontigny and Ayi Jihu been asked to showcase  Young Native in Myanmar (first fashion week) later this year.  Angela DeMontigny is also the Fashion Designer behind the brand new FearChaser® Costume to be used on the Ayi Jihu FearChaser® film starting production late 2013. The brand new FearChaser® costume will be revealed in full to the world for the first time during Ayi’s tour of Toronto during Chinese Heritage Month (of May). FearChaser® has strong Native Indian influences.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu embraces the Native American Indian community

Ayi Jihu has been working with the Native American Indian community in various ways for some time building up firm relationships within the Native Indian community.  This is all part of the Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Entertainment Ltd Strategy of going right to the roots of things in culture, music and art.  Ayi Jihu does not just talk about ‘keeping it real’, She is trying hard to live it.

Ayi Jihu is also hoping to take her FearChaser anti-bullying message back into schools on this trip continuing where she left off the last time she was in Canada.  Angela DeMontigny will be joining Ayi Jihu on this short school tour in an effort to help inspire and teach the kids positive ways to express themselves through Fashion and music as well as how to cope and deal with Cyber bullying and intimidation, something she and her own kids have experienced being Native American.

We spoke briefly to Ayi on the phone and she told us she is ‘humbled and honored to be invited to the NAMA awards and wants to do her best to represent her own Native Yi people of China well’.  She also told us she is ‘very excited at the prospect of perhaps working with Terri Lynn’.  She said the two had ‘discussed some sort of musical collaboration’.  Ayi also stated she is ‘excited about her Toronto tour in Asian Heritage week and is looking forward to doing lots of positive things in the great city of Toronto as well as working with the kids again’.

Global News shall be covering the Ayi Jihu tour of Toronto with Anglea DeMontigny, including their appearance at the Native American Music Awards, with Terri Lynn and all the other amazing projects, Tv and press and music they will be undertaking.  We shall bring you the news here first.

Ayi Jihu – Stealing A Generation – Cambodia’s unfolding tragedy

stealing A Generation - Sisha fight against human trafficking

Hello Supporters,

The message is out! We’ve received a lot of press coverage regarding our work investigating and assisting police in shutting down illegal and abusive orphanages. The Brisbane Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Age, call the orphanage industry in Cambodia “the stealing of a generation.”

Orphanages in Cambodia are a lucrative business. The children are the assets.
There are the highlights of the reports:

  • Over 70 per cent of the 10,000 children living in Cambodia’s estimated 600 orphanages have a parent; although research shows most are portrayed as orphans to capitalise on the goodwill of foreign tourists and volunteers, including thousands of Australians.
  • Up to 300 of these centres are operating illegally and flouting a push by government and United Nations agencies for children to be reunited with their parents.
  • The managers of several respected Australian-run orphanages are alarmed by the situation and note that the number of orphanages has increased 65 per cent in the past five years, while the number of orphans has reduced dramatically as Cambodia recovers from genocide and an AIDS epidemic.
  • There are many reports of cash transactions for children, although it is usually referred to as a donation to the child’s family.

Help us continue the fight. We can’t walk away from these children. Become their Champion. Become a SISHA Champion. Your small gift of $10-$100 helps to free these children and reunite them with their families.

Sincerely,

Steve Morrish
Executive Director

Chinese star Ayi Jihu Still believes it’s all about Love with her new single ‘It’s Magic’

March 24, 2013 Leave a comment

Chinese star Ayi Jihu's New single It's Magic

The long awaited Ayi Jihu single has finally arrived. The artist referred to as ‘The Chinese Madonna’ has not released a new track for almost a year concentrating and her philanthropic endeavors and her Fear Chaser film. Ayi fans have been waiting a long time to see what this trailblazing artist would do next.

It just would not be Ayi Jihu or Shlepp Entertainment if they did anything anyone expected them to do now would it, and once again they stay true to their history and surprise as all again. Not that we should be surprised from a Chinese artist that coins a word no other international Chinese artist can, Independent. An artist that has broken the rules and made her own path from day one.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu's brand new single It's Magic
The new single is called 'It's Magic'and it includes 5 mixes all together. 'So what's so surprising about that I hear you ask? Well for an artist well known for her provocative lyrics and style, and at a time when music is getting faster and more dance orientated, Ayi has opted to release a love song with pop overtones and under 120bpm. It's Magic is not what many would have expected from Ayi Jihu. There is no effort here to 'Keep up with the Jones's'. This is a beautiful, well crafted song about love, emotion, commitment and loyalty.

Its Magic Image (9)

A scene from Ayi Jihu's it's Magic video

A scene from Ayi Jihu’s it’s Magic video

The video is a little different too. It’s a mini movie, telling a story, with a twist. In order to get her story across Ayi opted to make two versions of the video, the longer one fleshing the story out a bit more and filling in some of the gaps one cannot fill in 3.30 seconds. A lot of thought and passion has gone into this track from Ayi. The presentation of the music artwork and website all have a distinct movie look. When we questioned Ayi about this she said, She did not want to just make a song and throw it out there, she wanted to make a statement whether people listened to it or not.

You will never get to far away from RnB with Ayi and even with it’s definite pop style, you can still hear and feel the RnB in this track. It’s one of those songs that if you listen to it more than once, you know it and you are singing it, like it or not. We feel quite a few people will like this and we feel even more people will associate themselves with the story and sentiment that Ayi is trying to get across.

Ayi Jihu's new single It's Magic with Remixes from The Trinity Band

For those of you who like their music with a a 4 to the floor vibe, don’t panic. Ayi Jihu linked up with the Trinity Band and their remix of the song takes it in a whole other direction while keeping the sentiment, it goes from a more melancholy affair to a an upbeat dance and sing along happier track. Featuring live music and vocals from the Trinity Band who have come a long way since they almost grabbed the top prize on Sky’s Must be the Music’.

Ayi Jihu's It's Magic Blues and Soul Remix

Add to that a sultry Blues and Soul Duet remix featuring Chicago born new comer Rapheal Rar Miller and you have a package that has a little bit of something for everyone.

Ayi Jihu with it's magic co star Ollie Best

It’s Magic has a lot going on. The whole project kinda takes you back to the days when singles meant something and artist did not throw one out every couple of weeks as seems to be the trend these days. It even has a trailer!

Whether or not the public will take to the way Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Records are presenting their music remains to be seen, one thing for sure is you get more than value for money here. Do we expect Ayi Jihu to change and do what everyone else is doing in the way they are doing it…..Nope, She never really has, so why should she start now? There is a lot to Ayi Jihu’s it’s Magic indeed, you only have to visit the website to see the whole look and feel is not like any other. You get the story, the making of, find out who did what, and much, much more. See for yourself. Visit www.loveismagic.co.uk we think you will be more than a little surprised again.

Ayi Jihu - 'It's Magic' scene from the video

Yep it seems that Shlepp and Ayi have thought of just about everything on this single release. There truly is something for everyone here. For those of you who like your Ayi Old skool, there is a really cool video you can watch here called Music Motion Dance. This is for those who like the more raw edgy Ayi of Smak Dat, the Girl who took Macau by Storm and has since gone on to be on the verge of Mega success worldwide. We can only assume Ayi wanted to put this in to remind her fans that As she grows she will never abandon her roots, her love of Ragga, RnB, Hip Hop and all things Urban. Good to know Ayi. It Just would not be Ayi Jihu if there was not some time of Charity of Philanthropy involved. Ayi Jihu is one of the few artist we know that seems to marry her ‘Giving back’ side and her Artist side very well. She has being doing so from day one, which leads one to believe that this is who she really is rather than something she feels she has to do for appearance sake. This time it’s Help for Heroes and once you listen to the song and more importantly watch the promo video (better yet the Extended video) You will understand more why Ayi has chosen this particular Charity to work with on this project.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu will be stepping out on Monday the 4th of February in support of C.R.I.M.E. short movie “If only” C.R.I.M.E (Creating Role Models In Media Enterprise) was set up by Mr Fredi ‘KRUGA’ Nwaka and is a community organisation which works with ex offenders, gang members and young teens turning their stories or experiences into short film.

C.R.I.M.E. was set up as a response to the 2011 London riots as a way to not only give back to the community but to help some of the troubled teenagers who would like to seek a career in film/TV,this being done through work shops, mentoring and real life film classes. Having lost over 40 friends and associates to violent crime and gang affiliated incidences, Fredi Nwaka has used his real life experiences to deliver a punchy, fast paced, intelligent look at the gang epidemic which has claimed the lives of so many of our young people.

Ayi Jihu will be working with Fredi ‘KRUGA’ Nwaka on future C.R.I.M.E projects and films and is keen to support the organizations efforts in tackling youth violence. Ayi Jihu and Fredi ‘KRUGA’ Nwaka came together because of the synergies with her Fear Chaser projects and film and his C.R.I.M.E project. The two decided to work together in their efforts to create positive role models and motivate youngsters to do positive things.

Ayi Jihu will join a select group who will watch the first screening of ‘If Only’ at the prestigious 195 Piccadilly, (BAFTA), London W1J 9LN. She says that supporting C.R.I.M.E is in keeping with her ‘Fear Chaser‘ and her new ‘Made in China movements’ as well as her ambassadorial and philanthropic roles all over the world. ‘I am about supporting the positive and re-working the negative’ She says. ‘What Fredi (Kruga) is doing is great and I support him fully.

Following on from its premiere screening the plans is to show IF ONLY around schools, colleges and prisons as part of an educational tour as well as entering it into numerous festivals globally. Despite being screened as a complete short film an educational workshop based package which can be used in both the educational, community and voluntary sector to divert young people away from youth violence has been created. More information regarding this will be given out at the screening.

Super Producer Carlos Stephens to work with Chinese Star Ayi Jihu

October 23, 2012 Leave a comment

Multi – Platinum Mega Producer Carlos C-Los Beats Stephens to produce Chinese Star Ayi Jihu on her new Fear Chaser film sound track and album.

After the No Limit army had risen to enormous heights and then just as suddenly found itself in need of reorganization at the end of the ’90s,Master P proceeded to dismiss the ranks of his prolific production team,Beats by the Pound, with the sole exception of Carlos Stephens. Since first collaborating with Master P on his 1996 Ice Cream Man album, and also producing beats for future No Limit soldiers Kane & Abel and Skull Dugrey circa 1996, Stephens quickly found himself a member of the Beats by the Pound production squad, also including Mo B. Dickand KLC. This was just the beginning for Carlos Stephens who has sold over 75 Million records worldwide.

Carlos Stephens Joins other Big Name producers like Paul Wiltshire working on Chinese Star Ayi Jihu’s brand new Album for 2013.

Global News Spoke briefly to Carlos Stephens by phone and asked him how he felt about working with Ayi Jihu?

“I’m Looking forward to it really. She is very talented and what we are going to be doing goes even beyond her album as we shall be working on the her Film ‘Fear Chaser’ Too. She is quite unique in her feeling and understanding of Black urban culture and R&B coming from China I have never quite come across anyone like her. It’s very exciting, and when you have done as many things as I have done in this game finding things to be excited about is not easy.”

Carlos Stephens will be working with Stevie Eagle E on both Ayi’s album and the Fear Chaser film.  Shlepp Entertainment Ltd are working with GoConnect in Australia and Germany on Ayi’s first single release for 2013 which will lead up to the Album later in 2013.

Ayi Jihu told is she is more than a little nervous at working with the Carlos Stephens. “He has worked with everybody done so much, from Master P to Snoop Dogg. I have been blessed that from day one I have only worked with the best, Stevie Eagle E, Paul Wiltshire, and now Carlos Stephens.  All I can say is I am really excited and humbled and just want to do my best for everyone. There are a lot of people believing in me and I feel a great responsibility. I am going to keep working hard. 2013 looks like being a good year for me.”

After years of work trailblazing the way independently Ayi Jihu now seems destined for greatness with her Fear Chaser alto ego and Brand taking of simultaneously with her own musical career.  Ayi Jihu’s Fear Chaser game has already been played by over 25 million kids worldwide on Adventure Quest worlds.  Rumour has it a stand alone console game is being planned in conjunction with the Fear Chaser film.

Native Canadian Fashion Designer to create Fear Chaser clothing range

April 16, 2012 5 comments

The wait is finally over. The brand new Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser outfit is here. Designed by Native Canadian (Cree/Chippewa/Metis),  Angela DeMontigny. The new Fear Chaser design is set to give the Superhero look a new ethnic and Native twist.

Angela DeMontigny, one of the world’s top Native Canadian Fashion designers met with Ayi Jihu at A Celebration of Women Foundation Inc event in Canada in 2011. The two hit it off straight away and soon after,  Ms. DeMontigny was officially announced as the Stylist and designer for Ayi Jihu and Fear Chaser. Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Entertainment Ltd were keen to have a unique eye cast on the styling of Ayi and Fear Chaser and Angela proved to be the perfect person to realize their vision.

The stunning design totally transforms the Fear Chaser image encapsulating all the unique elements embodied in the Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser story. The unique, ethnic and colourful design will challenge the way superheroes are viewed in Western cultures. We managed to get Angela DeMontigny on the phone and speak to her about her design, Ayi Jihu and Fear Chaser:

Angela your Fear Chaser design is stunning, how did you come up with it?

Thank you. For me, once I got to know Ayi Jihu and Stevie Eagle E and understood what She and Fear Chaser was all about, the idea practically formed itself in my head instantly. I already knew Ayi as a Woman of Action and part of ACOW (A celebration of Women Foundation Inc). It was obvious to me she was no ordinary performer or person. Her charitable and philanthropic work speaks for itself, but it was in coming face to face with her and talking to her that I really began to understand the full picture of what she and Stevie were trying to achieve with Fear Chaser. Once you understand what they are all about and the messages they are trying to get across, it’s amazing and for me the design came quickly.

The main challenge for me with the design was coming up with something that Ayi herself could wear. Ayi is Fear Chaser. It’s a bit different to Angelina Jolie playing Tomb Raider. Ayi and Fear Chaser are one and the same, so anything I designed had to be something she herself would want to wear.

Your design seems to have strong influences from several cultures can you talk us through it?

I tried to incorporate as many Yi influences as I could to represent Ayi’s heritage as well as the other cultural elements that are part of Fear Chaser (Native American, African, Indian, etc.) without looking TOO traditional yet still retaining a cool ethnic vibe, some sex appeal and of course functionality….she has to be able to MOVE when she’s fighting all those nasty demons!

This costume will be the foundation from where all other future outfits (for related Fear Chaser performances, events and products) will be based upon.

As a native designer (Cree/Chippewa/Metis) from Canada, I totally relate to wanting to dress in a very unique and original way that expresses who I am and where I come from. I’ve tried to do this for Ayi and Fear Chaser….I think the combination of these influences came together in a very exciting way and completely represents who she is. She loves it and that to a certain degree is the most satisfying thing for a designer.

There are quite a few accessories that go with it can you tell us more about them?

Well as I said before the Fear Chaser costume is a combination of ethnic influences from traditional Yi clothing and Native American to African and Indian. The accessories combine these traditional ethnic influences: Wrist Cuffs, Belt (Medicine Wheel) and boots: Native American -Beaded/Jewelled Headpiece: Chinese/Indian – Necklace: (not shown) Chinese/Native American – Spear: African. There is Traditional Yi embroidery on the skirt panel and the striped design on the top which is combined with Native American/tribal geometric patterns and beaded fringe.

We noticed the Fear Chaser Medicine Wheel emblem on the belt of your drawing, was this also a part of your inspiration when designing the costume?

The colours on the Fear Chaser costume are based on the 4 colours of the Medicine Wheel, which is a big part of Native American and other cultures. Red is the more dominant colour and is very important in many cultures (especially Chinese and Native American) and symbolizes protection, sacredness, power and good luck.

How do you see the future for yourself and Fear Chaser developing?

Since I started working on this, things have already developed quite rapidly. I am now the Cultural advisor for North American Native content on Fear Chaser as well as the head stylist and designer, not just for Fear Chaser but also for Ayi. It’s a great responsibility because I am very respectful about my culture and heritage and she feels the same about hers.  I feel happy to be able to help them work with it and to also guide them so that the audience will be given an opportunity to experience a small but real glimpse into these cultures. I have been lucky enough to read the early drafts of the Fear Chaser story and there are a lot of North American Native references and teachings in it as well as other ethnic influences . I guess the most obvious is the Medicine wheel. I am happy to have been a part of helping them with that part of the story as I feel it’s important for people to learn what that symbol represents…it is the embodiment of our connection to everything and everyone….all races, all of creation.  Fear Chaser is an amazing story… nothing quite like it has been done before, while at the same time it seems to be similar to so many great things we all already know and love.

As I mentioned before this is more than just a costume for a super hero It’s a lifestyle and brand and a whole range of clothing and accessories that truly represents Ayi Jihu. I see a bright future working with Ayi, Shlepp Entertainment Ltd and Fear Chaser. Our visions and desires are on the same path. It’s an exciting time right now.

Finally we asked Angela how she sees the rest of the year panning out.

Well it’s an exciting year ahead for me on several fronts. I am in the process of building my own brand and business which is going very well. With regards to Ayi and Fear Chaser, there is so much going on there it’s impossible to say what will happen. All I can say is that it looks amazing, her schedule this year alone is quite breath taking. Right now it is the calm before the storm and so we are all preparing like mad for the summer. Her live shows, Anime and gaming events, TV shows and film schedule will keep us all on our toes I’m sure. Stevie (CEO of Shlepp Entertainment Ltd) and I have spoken many times and we are both the same when it comes to taking one day at a time and staying grounded.  That said, he has great expectations for Ayi this year so we shall keep working hard, building sure and slowly and see how it develops.

We spoke briefly to Stevie Eagle E CEO of Shlepp Entertainment Ltd about Angela DeMontigny and Fear Chaser he told us the following:

Angela has been a huge asset for us. Her vision and understanding of Ayi Jihu and Fear Chaser has made working with her so easy and so much fun. Basically; She gets it. We have great plans to expand all she is doing into retail and other areas. This year has already been amazing for many reasons, but the tail end of the year starting from this summer is just looking out of this world for us so we are working our socks off now to be prepared. The Anime event which is coming at the end of summer at the Las Vegas Convention center is going to be huge and will see Ayi Jihu and Fear Chaser take the live experience to a 3D level on stage. What we are planning is out of this world. Getting the Fear Chaser costume right was a big part of the whole thing and Angela got it right.

The PR and Marketing for everything will kick off in several weeks and we’ll be doing some really cool things. We want to get the fans involved as much as possible in the development of Fear Chaser. One of the things we are  doing is running competitions allowing people to participate by writing, drawing or designing certain parts of the Fear Chaser story or image. If you look closely at Angela’s design you will notice that the wrist bands are blank. She purposely left them this way for the competition. We want kids to design the pattern or artwork that will go on these wristbands and in doing so complete the Fear Chaser outfit and write their name in history. We shall be running other cool competitions just like this. The next month or so is key as we are doing our best to be prepared for all that is coming and it’s quite a bit. New songs, new videos, the short movie and the short story are just some of the things being worked on right now.

We asked Stevie Eagle E why he went for a Native Canadian designer?

Anyone who knows anything about me knows I am global in my thinking. I am always looking out for special people in all lines of work to collaborate and work with. All they have to be able to do is their job and do it on a high level. If like Angela they are Native Canadian or American Indian, African, or Chinese then that just adds flavour to the mix for me, because I am going to get everything that the top regular folk do with an extra twist. I am gonna get a different vibe and that is what I am looking for. I hate anything that’s typical or predictable. I am looking for people from left field who have that x factor that can make things happen and plug into our vision because we have a global vision with a global artist who wants to work with these kinds of people and explore it all. Ayi is different so it allows us to be different. Unlike many others we are free to do what we want to do. The only criteria is you have to be hot! and Angela DeMontigny is a hot fashion designer!

New Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser emblem revealed for 2012

April 8, 2012 1 comment

Chinese star Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Entertainment Ltd released the first pictures of the new Fear Chaser emblem exclusively to GNI on Easter Sunday. Ayi Jihu’s Fear Chaser is getting a serious makeover ahead of the Short Movie going into production early summer 2012. We have also now been informed that the Fear Chaser short movie, working title; Birth of Fear Chaser may well be in 4k 3D!

Ayi Jihu has been working closely with writers on the Fear Chaser short story to be released as a book later this year just ahead of the short movie. We spoke to her about the New Fear Chaser emblem, what it stood for and also asked her about the new Fear Chaser outfit being designed by Native American Fashion Designer Angela DeMontingy.

‘The new Fear Chaser emblem is based on a Medicine Wheel and Native American concepts, teachings and ideas. Although to be fair several other cultures also have medicine wheels. It’s divided into four parts and each part represents something. The whole medicine wheel represents all the qualities, attributes and distinct abilities of mankind and combined we are whole. The Medicine Wheel used in Fear Chaser does not follow any distinct pattern. Each segment represents an animal, power, attribute and ability as well as a warrior from different parts of the world. I don’t want to give to much away but lets just say that as Fear Chaser she is able to tap into these abilities and attributes through her Medicine Wheel emblem. It’s really very cool and I learned so much studying medicine wheels and the different cultures that use them especially Native American cultures it was fascinating. Fear Chaser and her powers will be a combination of many different cultures from all over the world. The short story is fantastic I think people will love it and I think it is unique. The Short movie script is being written based on the short story. I can tell you it’s very deep and complex but also very real. Stevie call it ‘Friction’ a mixture of Fact and fiction it’s kinda crazy really.’

We asked Ayi about the new Fear Chaser outfit being designed by Angela DeMontigny and where on the outfit the emblem will be?

‘All I can say is wow! Wait till everyone sees the new Fear Chaser outfit, it’s amazing, so unique and so me really. Angela did so much work on this and it is just perfect. When I saw it, which was just recently. It was not what I expected it was completely different and I loved it. I won’t say too much about what it looks like now as I know Shlepp will be revealing it soon, but I can tell you it has strong Yi influences in its design as well as strong ethnic and Native American Indian influences. It is beyond cool. The Fear Chaser emblem is on the belt right in the center too. I can also reveal that the Fear Chaser emblem is not just cosmetic. It’s a tool which Fear Chaser uses to summon her different powers. I don’t know if I should say too much more though. Working with Angela has been just amazing, because she just gets it. She is like me in many ways both of us are breaking new ground her as a Native American designer and me as a Chinese artist.

‘There are several sides to the Fear Chaser costume. There is the movie, the live show and then the merchandise so everything is being put together now and I am very proud of what we have done so far. I just hope that everyone else feels it as much as we do.’

Ayi Jihu is planning several Major shows in the USA for late summer. We are told these shows will bring some spectacular elements into the live show such as 3D. Right now Ayi Jihu is concentrating on her new album and preparation for the summer. Finally we asked Ayi how she felt about 2012.

‘So Far it has been a mixture of fantastic and heartbreaking. Although the work has been amazing there have been some crazy things happening outside of work, friends passing away and deaths in the family and so it has been bitter sweet in many ways. I have really grown this year and I am throwing myself even harder into the work. It’s all about being prepared now and so I am working very hard. Everything looks fantastic but you never know, things can change in a moment and so I try not to think too far ahead, I just work hard and I am grateful for the progress I am making. It’s all about the My Fear Chaser side this year and I want to continue fighting my fears and getting better. I want to help people do the same. I am very excited about this year, but also nervous because there is so much happening and things can go wrong. That said I stay positive and keep working hard.’
