Chinese star Ayi Jihu Still believes it’s all about Love with her new single ‘It’s Magic’
The long awaited Ayi Jihu single has finally arrived. The artist referred to as ‘The Chinese Madonna’ has not released a new track for almost a year concentrating and her philanthropic endeavors and her Fear Chaser film. Ayi fans have been waiting a long time to see what this trailblazing artist would do next.
It just would not be Ayi Jihu or Shlepp Entertainment if they did anything anyone expected them to do now would it, and once again they stay true to their history and surprise as all again. Not that we should be surprised from a Chinese artist that coins a word no other international Chinese artist can, Independent. An artist that has broken the rules and made her own path from day one.

The new single is called 'It's Magic'and it includes 5 mixes all together. 'So what's so surprising about that I hear you ask? Well for an artist well known for her provocative lyrics and style, and at a time when music is getting faster and more dance orientated, Ayi has opted to release a love song with pop overtones and under 120bpm. It's Magic is not what many would have expected from Ayi Jihu. There is no effort here to 'Keep up with the Jones's'. This is a beautiful, well crafted song about love, emotion, commitment and loyalty.
The video is a little different too. It’s a mini movie, telling a story, with a twist. In order to get her story across Ayi opted to make two versions of the video, the longer one fleshing the story out a bit more and filling in some of the gaps one cannot fill in 3.30 seconds. A lot of thought and passion has gone into this track from Ayi. The presentation of the music artwork and website all have a distinct movie look. When we questioned Ayi about this she said, She did not want to just make a song and throw it out there, she wanted to make a statement whether people listened to it or not.
You will never get to far away from RnB with Ayi and even with it’s definite pop style, you can still hear and feel the RnB in this track. It’s one of those songs that if you listen to it more than once, you know it and you are singing it, like it or not. We feel quite a few people will like this and we feel even more people will associate themselves with the story and sentiment that Ayi is trying to get across.
For those of you who like their music with a a 4 to the floor vibe, don’t panic. Ayi Jihu linked up with the Trinity Band and their remix of the song takes it in a whole other direction while keeping the sentiment, it goes from a more melancholy affair to a an upbeat dance and sing along happier track. Featuring live music and vocals from the Trinity Band who have come a long way since they almost grabbed the top prize on Sky’s Must be the Music’.
Add to that a sultry Blues and Soul Duet remix featuring Chicago born new comer Rapheal Rar Miller and you have a package that has a little bit of something for everyone.
It’s Magic has a lot going on. The whole project kinda takes you back to the days when singles meant something and artist did not throw one out every couple of weeks as seems to be the trend these days. It even has a trailer!
Whether or not the public will take to the way Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Records are presenting their music remains to be seen, one thing for sure is you get more than value for money here. Do we expect Ayi Jihu to change and do what everyone else is doing in the way they are doing it…..Nope, She never really has, so why should she start now? There is a lot to Ayi Jihu’s it’s Magic indeed, you only have to visit the website to see the whole look and feel is not like any other. You get the story, the making of, find out who did what, and much, much more. See for yourself. Visit www.loveismagic.co.uk we think you will be more than a little surprised again.
Yep it seems that Shlepp and Ayi have thought of just about everything on this single release. There truly is something for everyone here. For those of you who like your Ayi Old skool, there is a really cool video you can watch here called Music Motion Dance. This is for those who like the more raw edgy Ayi of Smak Dat, the Girl who took Macau by Storm and has since gone on to be on the verge of Mega success worldwide. We can only assume Ayi wanted to put this in to remind her fans that As she grows she will never abandon her roots, her love of Ragga, RnB, Hip Hop and all things Urban. Good to know Ayi. Click on any of the Screen shots below to watch the video
It Just would not be Ayi Jihu if there was not some time of Charity of Philanthropy involved. Ayi Jihu is one of the few artist we know that seems to marry her ‘Giving back’ side and her Artist side very well. She has being doing so from day one, which leads one to believe that this is who she really is rather than something she feels she has to do for appearance sake. This time it’s Help for Heroes and once you listen to the song and more importantly watch the promo video (better yet the Extended video) You will understand more why Ayi has chosen this particular Charity to work with on this project.
Yep Ayi is back in the Musical limelight again with a whole new look and swagga. Her new style courtesy of Native Canadian Designer Angela DeMontigny (designer of the new FearChaser® Costume for the FearChaser® Film) suites her well.
You will be able to listen to all the mixes, watch all the videos. You even get to sing-a-long to a Karaoke version if you want. There are great deals on offer on the website, you can purchase from Itunes or your normal online store or you can take advantage of one of the many deals on offer direct from Shlepp which includes bonus singles, wallpapers and lots of other cool stuff.
It’s Magic is released on April the 1st 2013 You can order your copy now on Pre-sale, or you can get the single on the site with one of the many special offers available.
Every Day it seems thousands of people release a single somewhere, every now and then something comes along that grabs your attention a little bit more than the norm and this is one of those things. The whole project from the music to the videos, images, is classy, well thought out and expansive. For once it seems you will get more than Value for hard earned cash. Do yourself a favour and goto www.loveismagic.co.uk You may well get a surprise.

C.R.I.M.E FIGHTING WITH FREDI KRUGA? CHINESE STAR AYI JIHU AT THE ‘IF ONLY’ FILM PREMIERE AT BAFTA
In our last article we brought you the news that Ayi Jihu would be attending the Premiere screening of Fredi Kruga Film ‘If Only’. Ayi Jihu is a supporter of C.R.I.M.E (Creating Role Models in Media Enterprise).
Last night we were able to join Ayi Jihu at the Screening of ‘If Only’ (our review will follow this article) and report on the events of the night.
As we walked into 195 Piccadilly the first thing we noticed was the turn out. Hundreds of people where here to watch the screening of Fredi Kruga’s first feature. Not bad for an Ex Gang member turned Social leader and now writer, Director and Film Producer.
Among the guest where people from all walks of life, From Ex Gang Members to Social leaders, Members of the Cast, community workers and celebrities. Fredi Kruga’s movie had caught the interest of many.
Ayi Jihu Met with several members of the Cast and the press and media before the screening.
In fact such was the interest in Fredi’s Movie one screening was not enough. Instead two screenings had to be arranged to accommodate everyone.
Before the actual screening itself we were treated to a few words from the man himself Fredi Kruga. Up until now he was hard to find such was the throng always surrounding him. Fredi Kruga is not a small man by the way. He spoke of his passion for this movie, his motivation and what he was trying to achieve with it and his organization C.R.I.M.E.
Fredi Kruga is an inspired man. He is a man on a mission. Perhaps it was his seeing in Ayi a kindred spirit that made him reach out the Ayi Jihu (The Fear Chaser) to join him on his quest to re-educate the youth going astray in Gangs and street violence. Perhaps losing 40 people he personally knew to street violence and gangs pushed him over the edge to make a change. Whatever it was you knew one thing when you listened to Fredi Kruga. He was serious!
We are also told that ‘If only’ is not just a film. It’s and educational and social tool that will be taken to schools, prisons and workshops all over the country. You will have to read our review (coming soon) to find out more about this film. Was it any good? However before you even go there if you are paying attention you will get a clue as to why this film is a little different to many that try to tackle the subject of Gang violence and street crime. If Only was not made just to exploit, or turn your head. It was not made to glorify commercialize Gangs and violence. It was made to tell the truth and teach. It was made by a man who has more experience of it than many who cry from the rooftops that they know about all of this stuff. ‘If Only’ was made to be real.
Throughout the film you could hear a pin drop. From start to finish (give or take moments when laughter, and yes there are some moments of humor in this film, were appropriate) everyone was completely involved in it. It was that type of film.
After the film Fredi Kruga found himself, Once again’ engulfed. Even more now everyone wanted to talk to Fredi Kruga, perhaps a little incredulous at what they had just seen. ‘If Only’ is not what you expect. It’s better than what you expected (Now there is a little clue huh?)
Ayi Jihu looked stunning as always in her Young Native ensemble by Angela DeMontigny, but the star of the night was Fredi Kruga. It seems he has gone from the stuff of nightmares to the stuff of Dreams.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Yes she can, Ayi Jihu Joins up with Ryan Jenkins Choreographer
Ayi Jihu is known for many things, however, what she has at her core is dancing. If you one goes back to her village in Leibo China and mentions her name, all will refer to the “little girl who was always dancing and singing.” In fact, she has been dancing ever since she could walk and whenever she dances people pay attention.
Ayi Jihu is about to take her dancing to another level as she collaborates with “So You Think You Can Dance?” dancer, choreographer, and director, Ryan Jenkins. In addition to all of this talent, Ryan is also a trailblazer and it was his work with the Vietnamese Musical Theatre that played an equal role, as his unquestioned dancing abilities brought these two together. After many years of searching for the right person to help her develop her dancing style further, Ayi Jihu has finally found someone who understands her, and who she feels can assist greatly in taking her performance to the next level.
Ryan’s resume is impressive, from X-Factor to Grease; working with legends like Michael Flatley and Molly Molloy, he is a man in great demand. He is also a man with his eyes firmly set to the East and the new opportunities it brings for him to expand globally.

“I love working with Asian dancers and artists,” stated Ryan. “I just love their whole approach to things and they seem to like me too. When I was approached by Ayi Jihu’s management, I did my homework and was quite impressed. In fact, I was ‘wow’d’ — this girl is something else! As hectic as my schedule is, and with all I have to do, including working with the Dream Idols who are blowing up right now, I felt I had to work with her. She inspires me. When we first met it was at a nightclub in Cambridge and I thought I would see what she was really made of, so I whisked her away onto the dance floor and put her through some moves right away. Nothing I did was a challenge to her, rather, she made it all look so easy. I knew then and there that I had met someone exceptional. The best dancers make it look simple. Of course, with someone like Ayi, there is much more going on than simply natural dancing ability. She is currently working on a diverse range of projects, all of which are destined to create an explosion. With that in mind, I will be working on her new promo videos and live shows as well as helping her with in her movie debut in ‘As Blue As the Sky.’ where she will be dancing and singing. It is all very exciting and we are equally looking forward to what we will develop together.”
Around the world, particularly in China, Ayi Jihu is famous for her style of dancing. Some call it proactive and sensual, but most just drop their jaws in disbelief. Along with the feel of her lyrics and her independent status in Asia, it has made her a controversial figure; an artist that seems to polarize opinion. “I’m like marmite,” she says. “People either love me or want to kill me, but thank God most people accept and like what I do and the manner in which I do it, even if it is not yet quite understood.”
2013 looks to be a monumental year for Ayi Jihu. She has spent most of 2012 in preparation. “My new album will be released in 2013. It will be my first album for a while and I know a lot of people are waiting to hear what is coming next. I am also blessed to be working on some film and television projects both in the West and China; nothing too grand, but significant steps for me. Yeah, it’s all about 2013 for me and I have been working like a dog to be ready for it all. I face many challenges but have confidence that I can rise to them all.”
“Finding Ryan Jenkins has been a godsend for me. I have had some great Choreographers in the past, like Taz, who helped me get to where I am now, but I wanted to develop in another way and I needed someone who understood where I was trying to go. I looked at Ryan’s work, and was impressed all around. I loved his understanding of the Asian culture and how we think, move, and express ourselves. I love the way he gets the grimmy RnB and dancehall stuff that I love so much and mix with contemporary dance. Ryan just gets me and we get on so well. Too well sometimes — we are a crazy pair when we are together. I am so happy about this. I know I have been driving my whole team crazy with finding the right person for this; I can see them all breathing a collective sigh of relief, but I knew what I wanted and it had to be the right person otherwise, what’s the point?”
Shlepp CEO, Stevie Eagle E, sees this as a significant move for Ayi. “We are very choosy at Shlepp and the process of finding the right people to develop an artist is never an easy one when you are not dazzled by either reputation or money. We are searching for integrity, character, talent, and understanding. Ryan Jenkins means we now have our core artist development team in place for 2013 which is a key year for us and for Ayi. She is moving fast; constantly wanting to try new things and push herself and she has been very selective with regard to filling this position. It is important that the artist is happy. Some would say it is key, but at Shlepp we think differently. We think it is important that the team is happy and the team is very happy with Ryan Jenkins. He brings a lot to the table and will play a significant role in the development of Ayi Jihu along with JR Skeete and the rest of the artist development team. Everyone is looking forward to what these two will come up with together as it is already apparent they have great chemistry. We have a lot happening over the next few months and I can now confidently say we are ready!”
East meets Far East dawn of a new world musical order with Ayi Jihu and Aron B
Global News Inc had exclusive access to the filming of the brand new Aron B video co-starring Chinese star Ayi Jihu. Watching the action behind the scenes of this ambitious music video it became clear that the dynamics of the world music scene are drastically changing and at the forefront of the revolution are artists like Aron B and Ayi Jihu.
Initially, what one may see is a straightforward music video featuring collaboration between two young stars; nothing more, nothing less. However, the reality is that the power of this pair; one from India, the other from China, is atomic. Both have opted not go the traditional route or play traditional games, rather, remain independent. Both have forged a massive following – leading a new, much overdue, wave in this industry. This strength of independence and diversity is genius. Independently they have great strength, but in combination, they will command the attention and interest of billions of people … before even arriving West.
At a greater depth one then realises, the entire project has virtually negated the middleman. All direction, film/crew production, and marketing are all in house. Aron B carefully controls and directs the operation and has chosen another capable maverick artist to play at his side bringing all that she [Ayi Jihu] has to offer. It is a merging of ambitious, open hearts and minds; two individuals who can empathize with each other about the dedication and passion necessary for “going it alone.” This melding of all it takes to succeed professionally is apparent in the chemistry that is exuded between them on set. No “Divas” or “Egos” are present; rather, two trailblazers sweating side by side; cutting a path through the cartel that is referred to as today’s music industry.
Aron B, working with Shlepp Entertainment Ltd, put a young dynamic team together including new vibrant players like: Its Branded and Insignia Media Productions. Aron B is also well supported by his own people, most notably his family, assisting him in his own vision. For those who are not familiar, when Indian people get together an infinite amount of man and girl power is on the periphery.
Aron B’s vision and direction are by no means small either. Shooting with the highest quality equipment, as well as using the top professionals available, he has approached this more like a film than a music video. While most artists are content to stand in front of a green screen and move about a bit, this shoot takes on the look of a potential blockbuster. Whatever the outcome one can do little but admire his swagga and investment in himself and the project.
And Jihu partnering in this video adds to Aron B’s vision. A “true born” Chinese artist, she is unique as compared to most Canto artists who are introduced in multitude and never go beyond their own territory. Urban, sexy, beautiful, and extremely talented, Jihu, consumes the camera too – and there is no effort. It’s a natural vibe that draws even Western eyes an ears, and in doing so, provides no other reaction than the pulsing beat and complete pleasure.
And what about the track itself? Those in this profession can appreciate the fact that while on a video shoot they have no choice but to hear it over and over again. Usually after a few hours, one is looking for the nearest bullet or axe to put into the sound system. However, in this case, it gets. Aron B is an undeniable R&B singer; no playing around here. He has stayed away from dance infected R&B and planted himself in the roots of his craft with a track that is sure be a hit with the purists and perhaps the public too. While not able to speak about the Indian market, this song would easily knock many of the so-called R&B tracks currently infesting the charts right off their mark. It is infectious, catchy, radio friendly; it is performed with heart and style, and it just kicks in a club; making one want to bump his or her head “old school style” after listening a few times – unable to stop singing along. This track is also noticeably aimed at the West more than any other Aron B track that has come before. There is nothing obvious to tell you this is an Indian Singer in its music, vocals or approach.
As good as this is, it takes a lot more than having a great track to have a hit or success; even radio play for that matter these days. As much as the West likes to communicate that it is a level playing ground for everyone around the world, it is not. Let’s face it, how many Indian or Chinese artists do you hear on your radio or see perform via the airwaves? Speaking from inside the industry, it is evident how difficult it is to get things beyond the “gatekeepers.” Everyone is willing to take an artist’s money and do very little for it and what is replied by them when nothing happens is some excuse about the audience not taking to its look or vibe.
Basically, if an artist, even at the highest caliber is not white or black; which are what music consumers are accustomed to, no one really cares or really takes notice. If this level of artist brings the flavour an audience will get with, the “gatekeepers” are still present to work harder to stop diversity from breaking through rather than see it for what it is – quality at its best with the potential to reach the world rather than one or two continents. Mostly it is about control and the East and Far East scare the western music machine because they do not have control over it.
Aron B and Ayi Jihu realise completely what they are up against, however, playing it safe is not how an authentic artist creates something larger than life. This collaboration is without question a compelling case for everyone in the world to take notice. The numbers (following in their perspective countries) are already there. With the fan base growing steadily in India and China, the West has no alternative but to pay attention. Additionally, the differences and distances between the East and the West are tightening daily.
Talent, tenacity, independence, global awareness, and support from family and fans – in the billions – is catching these two artists up quite rapidly.
It has been indicated that Aron B will be featured on Ayi Jihu’s new single bringing their pairing full circle, and this is not a one-time go. The two powerhouses have plans to continue working together in a concerted effort to crossover their millions of fans. Speaking to Shlepp Entertainment Ltd CEO Stevie Eagle E, he stated, “working with an artist like Aron B is a critical part of our strategy. We turn down collaborative offers from many artists around the globe, some of whom are well known names, because we are intentionally building something different. We are opening new doors and causing some discomfort to the established powers. And, this is not due to arrogance. Music is global and should be seen as such. Because we are breaking barriers, it often means our progress is seemingly slower, however, we have a long-term view and plan and so far we are on track.
Working with someone like Aron B was to us just another step in the right direction. He is one of the few players who parallels Ayi Jihu’s potential. It was a perfect match and they are both very driven and talented people who are prepared to take on not only the West, but also their own people. They are not doing this in the traditional manner, however, with every step ahead, there is never a look back. Once this all comes to fruition, the world cannot help but take notice. We will have arrived with a one way ticket.”
Aron B has been off the scene working on his craft for almost a year and is determined to come back with a bang, bigger and better, which will ignite his following. He wants to crossover on his own terms. His new track will be released this year and it is believed to be an extraordinary hit, not only due to the music, but also for what it stands for. Ayi Jihu continues to rise and expand her fan base as well. Next year will see her first movie role, her new album and single, and various TV shows in America and Europe. Her super powered Fear Chaser project is set to reach another level as well.
It is the dawn of a new era and the beginning of real change in the global music industry as these two invisible giants are on the musical and Entertainment horizon.

New Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser emblem revealed for 2012
Chinese star Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Entertainment Ltd released the first pictures of the new Fear Chaser emblem exclusively to GNI on Easter Sunday. Ayi Jihu’s Fear Chaser is getting a serious makeover ahead of the Short Movie going into production early summer 2012. We have also now been informed that the Fear Chaser short movie, working title; Birth of Fear Chaser may well be in 4k 3D!
Ayi Jihu has been working closely with writers on the Fear Chaser short story to be released as a book later this year just ahead of the short movie. We spoke to her about the New Fear Chaser emblem, what it stood for and also asked her about the new Fear Chaser outfit being designed by Native American Fashion Designer Angela DeMontingy.
‘The new Fear Chaser emblem is based on a Medicine Wheel and Native American concepts, teachings and ideas. Although to be fair several other cultures also have medicine wheels. It’s divided into four parts and each part represents something. The whole medicine wheel represents all the qualities, attributes and distinct abilities of mankind and combined we are whole. The Medicine Wheel used in Fear Chaser does not follow any distinct pattern. Each segment represents an animal, power, attribute and ability as well as a warrior from different parts of the world. I don’t want to give to much away but lets just say that as Fear Chaser she is able to tap into these abilities and attributes through her Medicine Wheel emblem. It’s really very cool and I learned so much studying medicine wheels and the different cultures that use them especially Native American cultures it was fascinating. Fear Chaser and her powers will be a combination of many different cultures from all over the world. The short story is fantastic I think people will love it and I think it is unique. The Short movie script is being written based on the short story. I can tell you it’s very deep and complex but also very real. Stevie call it ‘Friction’ a mixture of Fact and fiction it’s kinda crazy really.’
We asked Ayi about the new Fear Chaser outfit being designed by Angela DeMontigny and where on the outfit the emblem will be?
‘All I can say is wow! Wait till everyone sees the new Fear Chaser outfit, it’s amazing, so unique and so me really. Angela did so much work on this and it is just perfect. When I saw it, which was just recently. It was not what I expected it was completely different and I loved it. I won’t say too much about what it looks like now as I know Shlepp will be revealing it soon, but I can tell you it has strong Yi influences in its design as well as strong ethnic and Native American Indian influences. It is beyond cool. The Fear Chaser emblem is on the belt right in the center too. I can also reveal that the Fear Chaser emblem is not just cosmetic. It’s a tool which Fear Chaser uses to summon her different powers. I don’t know if I should say too much more though. Working with Angela has been just amazing, because she just gets it. She is like me in many ways both of us are breaking new ground her as a Native American designer and me as a Chinese artist.
‘There are several sides to the Fear Chaser costume. There is the movie, the live show and then the merchandise so everything is being put together now and I am very proud of what we have done so far. I just hope that everyone else feels it as much as we do.’
Ayi Jihu is planning several Major shows in the USA for late summer. We are told these shows will bring some spectacular elements into the live show such as 3D. Right now Ayi Jihu is concentrating on her new album and preparation for the summer. Finally we asked Ayi how she felt about 2012.
‘So Far it has been a mixture of fantastic and heartbreaking. Although the work has been amazing there have been some crazy things happening outside of work, friends passing away and deaths in the family and so it has been bitter sweet in many ways. I have really grown this year and I am throwing myself even harder into the work. It’s all about being prepared now and so I am working very hard. Everything looks fantastic but you never know, things can change in a moment and so I try not to think too far ahead, I just work hard and I am grateful for the progress I am making. It’s all about the My Fear Chaser side this year and I want to continue fighting my fears and getting better. I want to help people do the same. I am very excited about this year, but also nervous because there is so much happening and things can go wrong. That said I stay positive and keep working hard.’

Ayi Jihu Vocal Kung Fu training
International Chinese Star Ayi Jihu is going through a grueling regime in preparation for her hectic year.
Ayi Jihu is working with Motown Vocal Guru JR Skeete who has helped many artist discover their inner voice and reach their full potential as performers all over the world. JR uses a mixture of vocal exercises mixed with Tai Chi type body moves to strengthen and elevate the voice and help the artist ‘Articulate the view’ as he puts it of themselves.
Ayi says ‘The Vocal Kung Fu is so hard and it takes a lot out of me. It’s only part of my training. JR tries to get us to do that part of my training on the roof at sunset whenever we have the chance, He says the energies are strong then. I’m getting better at it and my voice is improving and getting stronger. In fact everything is getting stronger and my focus and control during performances is much improved. Breath is everything.’
Vocal and artist development Guru JR Skeete says: ‘This is the time for Ayi to prepare herself for what is to come. She is a unique artist with a lot on her shoulders and this year a lot is expected, so it’s my job to make sure she is prepared in all aspects for the rigors of this game at the highest level. She is maybe small but she is very strong and committed and that will stand her in good stead for the future. I use this vocal Kung Fu style to help an artist connect with their inner self and understand the strength and power they have within, so that they can express that to the world through their singing and movement. Artist like Ayi who dance alot benefit from this style as they are all about movement and how they dance is how they sing. The two things are connected.

This is shaping up to be an interesting year for Ayi Jihu as she launches her new album and single as well as her Fear Chaser short movie. Ayi says ‘My schedule at the moment is mad. All I do is rehearse, practice, sing and exercise. I do not know what the future holds but I want to be prepared and ready for whatever life throws at me. The good thing is I love what I do. Some of my friends look at me and think I do not have much of a normal life and I guess they are right, but my life is normal to me and I know that without the hard work and sacrifice their will be no true reward’.
Ayi Jihu continued: ‘JR is amazing, he has transformed my singing and understanding of my voice as well as help me understand the music more. He is a fountain of knowledge and experience and I am very lucky and blessed to have someone like him working with me.’
