Skies looking Blue for Chinese Star Ayi at Film Event in London

October 13, 2012 Leave a comment

Ground Breaking Chinese Star Ayi Jihu

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu stepped out in London to the ‘As Blue As The Sky’ private movie event at Mango Lounge in Earls Court. Ayi Jihu has a small part in this British Romantic Drama and this was her first real meeting with the Director and some of the producers of the film since finding out she was going to be in the film.

Ayi Jihu met up with several friends including the owner of the cool Mango Lounge bar, Oliver at the event.

Ayi was accompanied by Shlepp CEO Stevie Eagle E.

Ayi Jihu got to meet some to the producers involved in the film ‘As Blue As the Sky’ Like James Daley. The Main producer of the Film Frederick Archer was not able to attend the event.

Ayi spent much of her time meeting and greeting various investors involved in the film. All of them seemingly eager to embrace the Chinese interest Ayi Jihu brings to the film.

For The Director of the Film Wayne Campbell this was not his first time meeting Ayi Jihu. He directed her the first music video she was ever in almost 5 years ago at Shlepp Records in London. He recommended Ayi for this role in ‘As Blue As The Sky’ Wayne Campbell told us: ‘It is amazing to see the rise of Ayi Jihu since I first met her almost 5 years ago. She was just an extra in a music video I was shooting for Shlepp Entertainment and we all could not take our eyes of her in the editing suite. It was obvious she stole the show on the video then and we actually went back and shot more of the video around her. Like many people I have been keeping my eye on her progress over the years and it has been a while since she has been back in the UK as she always seems to be in some exotic location around the globe. When we looked at Casting for this movie we knew right away we needed every edge we can get being an independent film. Ayi is not only perfect for the part but she brings a lot of interest and eyes from all over the world and hopefully that will put a few more bums on seats. If her first video is anything to go by we can expect her first big screen experience to to really go of the chain. She has a way of doing that to the things she touches. We are all excited about having her on board.

Ayi Jihu broke out in her custom raw laugh when Director Wayne Campbell tried to explain her role in the movie. Apparantly whatever it is she will not be wearing much we have been told.

Global News have also been told at least one Ayi song will be included in the film Soundtrack.

As Blue As The Sky is a Romantic Drama set in Dorset UK. The movie is supposed to be a real tear jerker. Based on a true story It explores the the scenario of losing and find love from a slightly different perspective. The film is slated to break ground on production early 2013.

Ayi Jihu has a busy 2013 lined up with her new album and several other film projects including Fear Chaser starting to break ground also.

Bringing back the glory days of Hollywood – Ayi Jihu at the Fox Cineplex in Banning, California, USA

February 13, 2012 1 comment

The glory days of the Movie House are probably long gone. Now where there where once palaces and ornate buildings, Chrome and carpet rules. So it’s nice to find a Movie House that is built in the old ways, and approaches the whole cinematic experience in the way movies where meant to be seen.

The Fox Cineplex in Banning, California, USA is one such place. It has stood in the same place since 1928. Back in the old days Hollywood stars would bring their wives (and girlfriends) their to watch the latest blockbuster. For Years it has been the center of Entertainment in the little town of Banning and for years it has drawn folks from all over the area including the affluent Palm Springs.

The Fox Cineplex has been the center of banning entertainment for almost 100 years and still is today.

When Ayi Jihu was told about the beautifully restored cinema she could not wait to see it for herself and was happy to take the offer for a private showing at the beautiful cinema of the film Warhorse.

Ayi and her team had the cinema virtually to themselves and were given a tour of the beautifully restored building. The Fox Cineplex cost Millions to restore and is now used by film makers around the world as well as drawing many photographers and artists to it’s doors.

Many Stars used to come to the Fox Cineplex to watch movies and also perform on it’s stage.

Ayi Jihu was intrigued by the story of a wallet that was found when the Cinema was being restored to its orginal glory. Apparently all those years ago, some guy had forgotten his wallet in the cinema. It was found and a Nationwide search was established to find the owner of the Wallet. With Local and National media become enthralled by the story of this wallet that had been lost in the cinema for almost half a century. Was the owner still alive? Would they be able to find him? The story caught the imagination of a Nation and eventually the owner of the wallet was located.

Banning has changed a bit over the years, but the Fox Cinplex has remained a part of the landscape.

As you sit back in the reclining seats and begin to take in your movie one cannot help but drift back to the dark days of the depression when people packed into Cinemas like Fox Cineplex all across America to escape their bleak lives for a few hours.

There is a wonderful simplicity about the Fox Cineplex and it’s staff. You feel like you are walking into someones home. It’s a place you want to be. As we left our private showing of the movie we could see the lines of people outside. Something I have not seen to often in America, it’s more of an English thing to line up in a straight line. The line was going around the block and everyone seemed content to wait and stand. All types of people too. Young kids, old couples, even some old soldiers. I wondered could they be all watching the same movie?

As the digital film era approaches Cinemas like the Fox Cineplex in Banning must covert or die. There is no room for celluloid anymore it seems. Converting a celluloid cinema from film to digital can cost hundreds of thousands and many cinema owners find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place. It’s convert or close. The fox cineplex is the labor of love of local businessman and entrepreneur Michael Frydrych. It’s a family business. Michael has worked in the Movie industry almost all his life and he could not resist buying the Fox Cineplex when the opportunity came up. He wanted to restore it to it’s original glory and bring something to the town of Banning. He succeeded.

Ayi loved the Cinema so much she returned to watch Red Tails there, and has also chosen to use the cinema to for her worldwide premier of the Fear Chaser short movie.

Banning is starting to boom again. New building projects and shopping centers are springing up, all spurred on by the Fox Cineplex which has attracted visitors from around the world for decades and still continues to do so. The staff at the Fox Cineplex are all very proud of where they work. Some have been working there for over a decade and show no signs of moving on

The history of this town is wrapped up in the Cinema. Everyone around comes to the Fox, spurring bigger, brasher movie houses for this quaint, unique cinema. It’s a Banning thing. It’s a bit of history and everyone in Banning and the surrounding areas seem very proud of their historic cinema.

Ayi Jihu said: ‘Coming from China, this type of place is magical to me, it’s like something you only read about or see in the movies. I love this place. Who knows I could have been sitting a seat that one of those huge Hollywood stars sat in. When you sit down in a Cinema like this you kind of wonder at all the things that have taken place there over the years. I don’t see many people taking such pride in places like this anymore, but here they care about every little thing, it’s great, and the popcorn is yummy! I have never had a whole cinema just to myself before, so that was nice too, if a bit strange at first. I’m really looking forward to having my premier here, maybe I will have everyone dress up 1920′s style just to make it even more fun.’

As the curtain closes on the age of film and digital takes over we can only hope that Movie houses like the Fox Cineplex all around the world can keep their charm and stay the same. We have far to many of the other kind of cinema already.

Ayi Jihu inspiring to achieve at Raymond Cree Middle school in Palm Springs

January 27, 2012 1 comment

Watching hundreds of kids enthralled, listening to the experience of a young Chinese girl who fought against all the odds to become a star was truly something to behold. Having seen and reported on Ayi Jihu’s Canadian experience with kids in schools I like many others wondered just how the American youngsters would handle her. What we all discovered is that wherever she goes and whoever she speaks to the reaction is more or less the same: People are inspired.

Ayi Jihu is an honest, accessible star, No Bodyguards or limo’s, no fanfare, no passing out of CD’s or merchandise, no pluggin of a forthcoming single or album. Ayi just turns up and talks to the kids from the heart, she ask them for nothing but a moment of their time to hear her story and to be motivated by it. She wants them to know that if she can, they can.

I have seen this kind of response before, but it is usually reserved for superstars like Michael Jackson, Not many stars reach their fans on an emotional level also. To see kids respond to an artist who before today they had not even heard of in this way is quite extraordinary. Whether it’s the lines of boys standing in turn just to get hug or to ask her to sign their arms, hands or school books, or the throngs of girls getting up from their seats to dance to her songs and circle around her as though she was the answer to all their questions. I have never quite seen anything like it. However what struck me most was seeing young girls in tears as she spoke, girls who seemingly before now did not feel anyone quite understood what they were going through. Ayi Jihu had hit a nerve for sure and as she spoke to these kids from different cultures and backgrounds she could see looking back at her was a room full of ‘Ayi Jihu’s’.

Just the reaction to the Fear Chaser Trailer alone tells you much, her first lines in the trailer speak of her loneliness and exclusion when she first arrived to the West and you could see the reaction of some in the Audience. You could see them thinking, ‘yeah that’s how I feel’.

During her Q&A Session the kids hands just kept popping up. Too many questions, not enough time. They hung on every word. As the word spread, more and more students kept coming, more teachers, more people. Something special was going down in the Auditorium.

As a Woman of Action representing A Celebration of Women Foundation Inc Ayi Jihu is focused on helping women, young and otherwise around the world in anyway she can, but not at the expense of leaving the boys out. Her approach is balanced realizing that Great women need great men and visa versa. So although Ayi Jihu is a Woman and a Chinese one at that it seems that she has more in common with many of the students than we would first believe. When the students hear of her journey from a small village in China to the West, of how her aunt risked her life to get her there all they can see is not a Chinese girl, but someone who has overcome and made good and they want to be just like her.

What the entertainment world is slow to see as the system clings on to old ways, old messages and old values is what these kids see straight away. They are looking for stars they can believe in, stars who offer more than a dream for the few, Star who give as a way of being rather than who give as a way of not feeling so guilty about all they have. Ayi Jihu’s message is not pop idol or X Factor, it is not reality TV or fast track secrets to making it. It is not just for those who want to be singers, dancers or entertainers, it is for everyone and it is very simple. Hard work and humility are the keys to success at whatever you which to achieve in life. Giving while you get, not after you get, paying it forward, the mantra of A Celebration of Women Foundation Inc and its founder Catherine Anne Clark. It is a message teachers are happy to have preached in their schools, as they try to combat the fast track mentality that is embedded in their students through the media. Ayi Jihu is a role model they can actually use and refer to.

Ayi Jihu builds her team in Hollywood

Ayi Jihu with Hair Stylist Michael Sean

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu is working hard ahead of her TV and film roles to build a great team in the USA. Ayi who has such teams in Europe and Asia already explains it’s has now become part of her life working with great professionals all over the world.

Ayi visited top hair stylist Michael Sean to speak with him about his ideas and was impressed by him.

Michael is a real cool guy and he got me right away. Every woman knows how we feel about our hair. In Europe I have Sharon and Louise from Mackin scissors. They have taken care of my hair for years and have seen me safely through many style changes. I would not let anyone else touch my hair really. Now I’m in the US i need to find someone else to take care of it as they cannot travel with me. At some stage I may have to get just one person to travel with me everywhere, but for now I have teams in place in my main territories. I’m hoping to find the best here for me in LA.

Ayi with Michael Sean and Lindsy Bedell

Ayi was accompanied by one of her new dancers Lindsy Bedell. Lindsy is one of the first dancers chosen in the US for Ayi’s forthcoming US and China Live tour. Speaking about Lindsy Ayi said “Lindsy is cool, and she can really break it down. I have held a few private auditions with several dancers and Lindsy is the best so far. I still need a few more and we shall be holding bigger auditions in the following weeks.”

Michael Sean has become well known for styling many celebrities hair in Hollywood.
